thank you finally some one who understands the girl though on the brother part there's several time where she goes against his teachings because she believes that will get her killed I can't stress enough how traumatic the thought of death is for mitsuha that scene in the first episode of her almost dying really drives most of her I don't want to die decisions (that and her family death as well)

i think that's because the anime preferred to go a more "comedic approach" and leave the dark stuff just implied

i like it that way. although doing that, makes moments like during the "training montage" in episode 2, when mitsuha has a serious mental discussion about "killing or not" stand out as quite surprisingly serious

adults in Japan are 18 now, you apparently haven't heard they updated that law back in 2018 and it took effect in April 2022. booze, smokes, and gambling ARE still 20 years old though.
